I'm fighting with my husband a lot and it's bringing me down

Do you just start to get busy and spend less time together? We keep talking and talking but we don't seem to get anywhere. My husband would never go to a marriage counselor. I'm really frustrated.

bust out of your routine.
learn a new skill together (Thai cooking, hiking, conversational Spanish or Chinese? etc.)
set a common goal and acheive it together, or tackle a very difficult task together

it's nice to be able to rely on your partner to get through the difficult tasks in life. it makes you both more appreciative. it's also fun to share adventures as well. sharing new adventures together is a must! maybe you won't climb Mt Kilimanjaro, but instead try out a new hiking trail or restaurant. share books if you are both nerdy like that.

why are you fighting so much? do you feel like you are not being heard? what can you do to take care of yourself right now while you work on strengthening your love bond?

You could always go to a counselor on your own. I did that when my marriage hit the skids and it was THE best thing I did for myself and us! I learned so much about how I contributed to the dysfunctional, unhappy dynamic. From there I was able to think differently and behave differently, and when I was different my spouse naturally responded differently - all for the good. Patterns don't continue when there's a change. Fast forward 15 years - we've never been happier. Don't take a stand in rebellion about, "Why do I have to do all the work?!" And don't get busy just to avoid conflict. You may both be talking, but it's possible neither of you are listening.
