If you lost 20 pounds recently, how did you do it?

Specifically, what changes did you make? If it was a couple things, what took you over the edge, what made the difference?

PEERtrainer, weight watchers points and a lot of perseverance.

It's been a long road but I am like 2 sizes smaller! Still have about 15 lbs to go.

I have lost 18.5 lbs. in the 3 months since I started PEERtrainer (and plan to round it off to 20 this week). Here is what I have done:

* Tried to exercise at least 4 - 5 times a week (but I have found that I can lose weight even when I can't exercise by watching my diet--see below)
* Cut out all fast food
* Eaten a lot of salads and used only low-fat dressings (they can be killers)
* Eaten dinner early and NOT eaten or drank anything after dinner but water
* Drank mostly water, no juice, some skim milk & diet sodas
* Lowered my intake of red meat - more chicken & fish
* Cut out butter (and margarine) completely
* Cut out cheese completely
* Tried to cut out white breads completely; eat a lot of wheat bread
* Cut out mayonnaise completely
* Cut out peanut butter completely
* Eaten only low-fat desserts (WW desserts, low fat ice cream, etc.)
* Eaten pretzels or low-fat popcorn for snacks

Wow, looking at it all together like that it seems like so many changes, but I've gotten so used to it that it doesn't seem hard at all. Making better food choices really does become habit. If you want, go to the red Spotlight group and check out my logs.

-25 lbs

So far this year I've lost 25 lbs--and I finally did it by not "dieting." When i tried "dieting" if I splurged I would decide to not start until the following Monday, or give myself some other excuse. So, instead of "dieting" I focused on making "Healthier Decisions." This covered everything in my life--food, exercise, sleep, even sometimes the people I spent time with. I've gone from 190 to 165, and now I'm confident that I can keep on losing by adding a little more structure to my exercise schedule. My diet can be unpredictable, so I'd like to compensate by getting in a a good exercise routine.

Keep it up! Once the first few pounds go I'm sure it'll encourage you to keep on doing whats best for your body!

i've lost 15lbs (you have to start somewhere)
- don't deny myself - moderation is the key
- cut my sugar and creamer in half when I have coffee
- try to eat in more so than out
- get up and move - at work, the gym, home. I'll just try to find something to where I can get up and burn calories

I really feel I haven't had to sacrifice to lose; small steps is the key for me

GOOD LUCK!!!
