Sore from sitting

I am hoping someone has some suggestions.

About two years ago I switched to a very sedentary job where I sit all day, so much so that my legs started getting sore. Well, now I notice that my legs get sore even after sitting for short periods of time. I do get up and walk around – I even got a pedometer and try to get 10,000 steps in during the day – but my thighs still ache from sitting even after going to a movie.

Anyone have any thoughts about if something else might be going on?

Stretching

I've heard that for every 30 minutes of sitting you should do 30 seconds to a minute of stretching. Stretching improves circulation (plus if feels good), so getting up and walking around might not be sufficiant enough. Also if you smoke, that can harm your circulation also.

Here's a link about other things you can do to help your circulation. Good Luck! I hope you have found some of this helpful.

Maybe you should also visit a doctor? It just doesn't sound like anything I've ever heard.

It sounds like Sciatica - caused by pressure on the sciatic nerve that runs down the back and continues down the leg and ends at the toes. Sitting cam aggravate Sciatica. There's a lot of information on the internet re this subject. The pain can range from mild to pretty awful.
