dessert substitutions, did I make the right choice?

I had a hankering for pie today. I didnt have any, but both the pecan and apple looked so good. Later I still wanted something sweet and smooshed 1 serving of peanut buttter with a tablespoon of hershey's syrup. it settled the sweet tooth pangs, but would I have done better to get the pie and not eat the crust? I hadnt thought about it untill I logged in the PB and chocolate on peertrainer.
Now I realize I made applesauce today and that might have cut the sweet pang too and that is DEFINITLY a better route, guess I know for tomorrow . .
But regarding peanut butter versus pie, what do you think?

Peanut butter without the syrup would be better for you than the pie (no insulin surge).

Hershey's syrup doesn't have many calories, particularly the Lite or Sugar Free varieties. The peanut butter is full of proteins and good fats, and will keep you full for awhile. The pie likely has no nutrutional value (okay, a little bit from the fruit, but not much...) I'd definitely go with the PB and chocolate! PB has like 200 cals in 2T, but they're useful calories, and pie probably has like 300/slice and isn't going to make you any less hungry!

I think that was a great substitution. Peanut butter is a great source of protein and you need to satisfy your cravings or they just get bigger and take over your mind.

I think you did well, too. I can only eat so much pb...but I could eat a ton of pie. So if pb is something you'll know you'll stop eating after one serving, I'd say it's a great substitution.
