Calorie burning activities while watching TV

OK, I know I should really be at the gym instead of infront of the TV, but when I can't go to the gym, and I'm with my hubbie when he's watching basketball, can you give me any ideas for exercise when I'm in the room with him? I've been using my free weights. I feel kinda silly walking in place and I don't have any equipment like a treadmill at home. I'd skp rope but that doesn't work so well on carpet.

I bought a little stair stepper at Sports Authority for $50. You can get them at Brooks Stone but they're much more $$. Hope this helps.

I do lunges, calf lifts, squats, and exercises with a resistance band while watching tv. For extra intensity you can hold your weights while doing these.

Wow, I checked out how many calories you burn on a stair stepper in 30min. 335!! I had no idea those little things could give you that great of a workout. I really need to get one of those, my husband also loves to watch basketball and most of the time I'm bored and feeling lazy sitting on the couch with him. Thanks for the tip!

I prefer music. TV is ok for relaxing, but to really have fun working out, you got to get some music that gets you pumped. You work out longer and you have fun doing it. Then again, if TV is what gets you working out, then I guess that's the best.
