Drink a TON of water, and if you feel bloated (feel icky, not just see it on the scale), you can try taking a diuretic, but make sure to stick to the exact directions on the box and don't overdo it, and still drink a TON of water to flush your system.

I'm the poster from before - all I've ever used is Midol. It has a little bit of caffeine, which works as a diuretic, plus either ibuprofen (Advil) or acetaminophin (Tylenol), I can't remember which, to help with headaches/cramps. It's always worked for me when I feel icky. Plus a huge bottle of water or tea.

I say drink herbal tea- it has low caffeine and will act as a natural diuretic. Taking OTC pills may dehydrate you. You don't necessarily have to drink so much water, either. Doing so may just make you feel more bloated, and more yucky since you'll be SO full of water. Try green tea with honey. Works for me, and is soothing for any cramps or cold-weather blues.

green tea is supposed to have a diuretic effect. Personal fave is brazillian gree yerba Mate, but mate factor.

other diuretics include dandelion (capsule or tea form) or dill seed (steep seeds for a tea)

If you are not wary of herbals, chaste tree berry, either in extract or in a tea, can really help with the water weight gain and some of the other symptoms of PMS. You can find it at a health food store.
I just don't weigh myself that week, knowing that the number will be off.

something to try..

My herbalist/L Ac has recommended Magnesium. Not the pills. there is a powder form called Natural Calm which is supposed to give a higher intake dose of magnesium.. which most people are deficient in.

My first try on this... taking 1 tbs per day.. removed all the bloat. No cramps. No breast tenderness... I couldn't believe it. She had the same results. Also helps with BM's.

Dude, potasium! if you are bloating, for whatever reason it's probably low levels of potasium. also magnesium. that one redueces heartburn as well.

The best all natural way to reduce water weight is to eat vegetables and fruits that act as a diuretic. There are absolutely no side effects to them. Choose the more bitter vegetables -- asparagus, parsley, and other greens. Also, grapefruit and papaya are great as well.

It does just go away...

The bloating only lasts a few days, it's not really "weight" - plus next week you'll see a HUGE loss. :-)

For PMS symptoms, stick with a daily EFA supplement. Moodiness and cravings will be non-existent.
