what questions to ask a personal trainer?

thinking of getting a personal trainer to do workouts with. what are some questions i should ask him/her regards to workout?

Questions for trainer

- how many times a week is the trainer available to train you?
- does s/he have a flexible schedule?
- what kind of equipment does s/he use to train you?
- what types of exercises will you be doing?
- will you be doing any circuit training (few breaks between sets, so heart rate goes up for cardio fitness)?
- how long are the sessions?
- have other clients that the trainer has worked with gotten good results?
- you can also ask for one or two references; be sure to tell the trainer if you have had any injuries and what your goals are

Maybe this is obvious, but talk to the trainer about your goals - ask if they think they are reasonable, and then listen closely to their answer - not to hear their opinion so much, but to see if they listened to you.

A free session with a PT came with my gym membership, and the guy didn't listen to me at all. My main goal was to get him to give me a 30 minute weight lifting plan for my upper body, and the closest we came was some core work with an exercise ball. We spent the rest of the hour working on my running form, trying to speed up my running starts (which I thought was also completely pointless - I run long distances, and I don't race!).

So just make sure that you can communicate well with them and that they listen to you and work on your agenda rather than their own before you sign up for multiple sessions.
