I've got the mom belly and the only thing I can do is work on losing fat all over. There aren't any exercises I can do to just specifically lose fat in that area. If you want to strengthen your abs a great starter exercise is the plank. You can work your way up to several minutes to really give your abs a workout!

cardio and calorie consumption (make sure you eat foods that fill you up aka fiber and avoid processed junk). you can do all the ab work you want, but unless you get rid of the fat, you won't see your 6-pack.

I agree....cut some of the fat out of your diet, run, and do core strengthening exercises

OP

thanks guy, I guess a better way to ask the question is.. how do you loose the fat around what me and my cousin call it the bladder area you know right under your bellybutton, everytime I do crunches or sit ups it helps with my stomache but I never notice a difference around that area.

The answers will be the same...you can't just lose fat in one area of the body. You have to lose fat overall, which will minimize the abdominal fat. If you want to strengthen that area look for exercises that target the lower abs and include moves that work your core. The ABs Diet book is a great resource for exercises, but they're everywhere.

I'm sorry, this is a case where "loose" cracks me up,because having kids loosened that area for sure, and it's frustrating because I have very little fat on my abs and yet - that thing is here to stay (had them in my 30s. If I had them younger, perhaps the skin would have been springier)

From what I hear, you can't spot-lose fat.

i find that running works for me. granted it helps me loose fat all over but it's more noticeable on my belly after a 2 weeks or so of consistent running. oh and crunches are not the magic pill for this. I find that while crunches make me firm in the stomach area, if my belly fat is still there on top of it all then I just look a bit lumpy. SO, I just run, and when I've burned enough body fat all around, I then focus on incorporating more stomach specific exercises.

this is the 7:25 poster- also consider trail running. it definitely makes for more of a core workout. And resistance training also helps to burn inches all around.

I can't do pushups so I put my feet on the bed and hand on the floor to help me with it, I noticed when I do that it REALLY works the stomache muscles, would that help anyone?
