I feel like this is getting serious.

I dont feel like I see any results unless I'm totally starving myself. Even if I eat extremely healthy and exercise my weight just stays the same. I only feel better when I dont eat at all, but then I feel even crazier and more frustrated because thats basically anorexia. But I'm not even skinny, I know I should see a doctor but it feels like I would just look like a joke...the overweight anorexic. I just need some advice and support. I'm either starving or binging.

What is it that you are eating? Are you exercising? A well rounded fitness program includes cardio (3-5x/week), strength training (2-3x/week), stretching(daily), etc. An interesting fact-something called set-point, which means that our bodies have a weight that it likes to be, and despite our calorie intake (or lack of), the body fights to stay in that weight range. We can change the set-point by increasing our metabolism through increased cardio, healthy food choices (with enough daily calories!!!), etc. It is possible that your metabolism is sort of stuck...Keep us posted!

a) a doctor wouldn't laugh, because you rarely become anorexic when you're skinny (but it does happen) he'd probably commend you for coming to you before you became a skinny anorexic!!

eating disorders

I can't tell from the information you gave if you do have a serious issue or are just dealing with a set point issue. If you want to know more without seeing a doctor - google EAT-26 - it is a very reliable assessment you can take to see if indeed this is a health issue. If it is, I encourage you to seek some support. Eating disorders are nothing to mess around with. I am a mental health counselor and am responding like this out of support - Not judgement. If this is not a concern for you - good luck altering your set point.

Your metabolism is probably very slow because you're probably not eating enough... If you don't take in enough calories on a regular basis, your body will store away anything you let past your lips b/c it figures it'll need fuel (fat) to live off of when you're not feeding it food... So, first, try for a few weeks eating a healthy diet of enough proteins and fats, and tons of fruits and veggies, as well as exercising regularly. Try eating maybe 1500 calories a day, every day. Your body will stop clinging to food b/c it knows that the next meal is always coming. Then after a few weeks, cut back to 1200 or so - the minimum number of calories you should consume, assuming you're exercising. Just don't have days where you eat nothing followed by days that you eat everything, b/c that's when your body clings to all the extra calories you eat! Try a very steady diet - and most importantly - be patient!! Weight loss does not happen (or even start) overnight!
