Believing in your plan- Motivation for Beginners

So, today, I know I didn't eat well. I seem to have trouble really "believing" that it will work, and so I give up. I also see a pound weight loss as not really "real" and I don't know how to change that. I've never really lost weight before, so it seems impossible, and like even if I stick to a plan, it can't really work for me. Do you know of any good books, or good visualizations or anything that might help me focus and believe that it will work if I stick to it (thus helping me stick to it)?

The book that has has helped me the most is "The Beck Diet Solution." It is not a diet book, it is about changing your behaviors and way of thinking toward food/eating. I love it. I have lost weight in the past but have gained it back over the course of two years. I was like you, I could not find any "real" motivation. I'd start dieting and by the end of the week I had stopped and believed I could never do it. I have lost 6 lbs in about two months which isn't much but it's something. I have learned I really do have to do it one day at a time and that its hard work. But now I am motivated and will continue (even if it is at a snails pace). Good Luck!

I second Beck - it addresses everything you mention. And you CAN do it! It's not impossible at all.

I was also going to suggest Beck, but it looks like I was not quick enough :)

also if you stick to it, you will start to see some results. These results will give you the motivation to continue. I also recommend Beck!
