Ladies: I need help with my wife's birthday
Hello, this is very last minute my wifes birthday is thrusday and I completly forgot. I am out of town and want advise from a woman's point of view as to what I should do in terms of gift and surprise. My wife is a teacher and is off from school for the summer and wanted ideas from members as to what I should do, thanks in advance
Tue. Jun 12, 12:35pm
Flowers are always a welcome surprise, along with a note telling her how much you love her.
Tuesday, June 12, 2007, 12:47 PM
Kick off her summer with some pampering! Fortunately I don't work so I'm able to do the usual upkeep, mani/pedi, body scrubs, etc. Your wife may love these types of spa treatments and the beginning of summer is a great time to indulge! Help her get her feet looking great with a pedicure (sandal season) along with a manicure (if she likes them) and a great body scrub with massage...smooth skin for summer!
Tuesday, June 12, 2007, 12:48 PM
Special dinner out and lots of attention. Tell her what she means to you (or write it in your card to her). It's the love most women want...not so much the stuff. Let her know she is really special!
Tuesday, June 12, 2007, 1:12 PM
how about surprising her with tickets to a show? a local theatre company or larger, depending where you live, with a gift certificate for lunch or dinner? she and a friend can attend a matinee on her b-day if you have to work.
Tuesday, June 12, 2007, 1:19 PM
i like those fruit baskets cut to look like flowers (in my area it's called "edible arrangements") you can send right online since you are out of town. i also like it when hubby buys me clothes - he buys stuff i'd never pick and it expands my horizons
Tuesday, June 12, 2007, 1:30 PM
definitely something w/ words...a card or a letter or a poem...something romantic and makes her realize how special you know she is. then, if you want to really impress her, make arrangements for a one night or weekend get a way if you can afford it and realistically do it. to know you put thought and effort into it would be really amazing. maybe a dinner at her favorite type of restaurant and then do something fun that you've done on one of your first dates together. Personally, I think a thoughtful card along with some quality alone time somewhere special would be the best present. Hmm...maybe I need to start dropping some hints to my bf since my birthday is coming up in a couple weeks. Good luck!
Tuesday, June 12, 2007, 2:08 PM
how about touring a local flower garden and then buying some of the cut flowers? or making her favorite dinner and then giving her a soothing massage?
Tuesday, June 12, 2007, 2:13 PM
If you decide to send flowers, please call a florist local to where your wife is...when you use a national contact company, 1-800-Flowers, etc. much of the actual money you spend is stuck in fees. Those companies just contact the local florists anyway & they are the companies who actually make & deliver the arrangement. Local florists are able to give you better value for your money because the money is spend directly on the arrangement, delivery & taxes...not a service fee!

What is up with all the flower ideas? I buy my own flowers.
I don't care what any of you say, women like and appreciate expensive gifts! Words, affection, flowers don't have the same effect as diamonds, luxurious treats, or a car (just joking on the last one).
I have told my husband before,"Oh honey, don't buy me anything" or "don't spend too much" and I was disappointed. I have learned since.
So I'm materialistic and superficial. MOST WOMEN ARE :)
Tuesday, June 12, 2007, 2:33 PM
I'm happy with anything that is thoughtful and a surprise, but my favorite gifts are girly. I'm a huge Steelers fan, but when my husband surprised me with a Steelers jersey for my b-day, despite playing on my interest and being a surprise, I was still a bit disappointed; I wanted something romantic!
Jewelry, or a nice engraved jewelry box (stores like Things Remembered can do same-day engraving), would mean the world to me! I'd also like silky pajamas, or a gift certificate for a spa treatment, or something like that.
I'd rather have a nicer present, and be taken out somewhere more casual, than vice versa.
Or, if my husband just made a big fuss over the day and planned out fun stuff to do - a picnic in the park, pre-purchased tix to a movie or show I wanted to see, etc., and surprised me with a day that was all about me, and I didn't have to plan, that'd be a great b-day present too!
Hmm, I wish my husband would read this...

I agree with some of the other posters. a card or a romantic poem.. is there any way of going home and surprising her.. maybe take her out to a resterant you had your first date.. make her a cd with songs you both love . ask her to slow dance with you..
its the little things women love and remember. a man running her bath. giving her a massage, making her dinner.
if you cant get to her. I agree flowers and a card with a iou for a romantic night. maybe write her a letter describing what you want to do with her when you se her. a sexy romantic love letter.

I just bought my fiancee a watch for her birthday, and she loved it.
Jewelery is usually fool proof. Bracelet, necklace. It doesn't have to be something over the top with diamonds etc.
I pick out something that I think is classy, and ALWAYS ask one of the girls at the store her opinion. Haven't picked a dud yet.

Just Do Something !!!!!!!!!! A Card and Flowers at least
Whatever you do - get at least a card !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My boyfriend was out of town and busy, he came home the day before and he took my birthday off and the proceeded to mow the lawn all day with his cell phone plugged into his ear in case a call came in. No card / no gift / and barely a happy birthday.
Thus I drank a bottle of wine and sang happy birthday to myself.

OP here thanks ladies I appreciate everyone's contribution
Tuesday, June 12, 2007, 5:58 PM
I agree with 2:33. I am expecting a coach purse for my b-day (200-$600). Girls love nice things. If you cant afford that though do a scavanger hunt or a make love coupons-one free massage given by you.

My favorite birthday was when my hubby wrote me a poem, brought home dinner, and gave me a bath in soothing bath beads, misted me with the perfume he purchased as a gift, and then spent time with me listening to the most wonderful romantic music while we cuddled. The best part was that he even asked friends to keep the boys overnight. That he thought of everything was the sweetest gift. This would definitely work for me again. Great anniversary idea also.
Wednesday, June 13, 2007, 2:35 PM
hey, OP! what did you end up giving your wife?
Wednesday, June 13, 2007, 2:40 PM
I bought her a blank card with a cute pic on the front that has a little adorable boy with flowers in his hand. I wrote a nice poem inside the card, bought her some chocolates she likes ordered some flowers for her and also bought this really nice jewelry set that had mentioned she had liked. Unforunately I will not be present when all this arrives but she is coming to see me over the weekend so I will definitely take her out to a new quiet restaurant and tell her things that women like to hear.............

Send her flowers w/ a note that you have a special date planned for her. Then take her to a resteraunt that has live music. Preferrably one with an intimate atmosphere and jazz
Wednesday, June 13, 2007, 4:28 PM
Well done OP - that's wonderful
Wednesday, June 13, 2007, 4:58 PM
perfect.. your both very lucky to have one another.

Commission a digital artist to make an artistic portrait of your wife from photos
Traditional presents like jewelry, chocolate, flowers are nice, but something different showing a little more effort and creativity is even more appreciated. When I found Nancy Gershman, a digital artist, and how she makes works of art from your photos, I realized this is not just a present for my wife, but it’s a present for the whole family to enjoy.
And my wife is really picky (as all wives are picky). But you know, even if your wife or girlfriend may not wholly love the product, you know she is going to love you for the effort and creative idea behind it.
You’d think the hardest part is trying to describe someone you know and love to someone who doesn’t know them at all. But once I gathered pictures that in my mind best epitomized my wife, and told Nancy as much as I could about my wife’s latest passion (which turned out to be jazz), the process just becomes easier.
You can contact Nancy Gershman at her studio, Art For Your Sake (www.artforyoursake.com), by calling 773-255-4677 or emailing her at email@example.com.

Today is Sunday my birthday was friday, My husband of 18yrs fogot my bitdhay, on saturday at approx 8:45AM , I told him he forgot my birthday he said "WOW" 'I forgot> that is all not a hug, not a kiss, not a i love you, i am sorry i forgot, not even an happy birthday. 7 hrs later I laid into him and cried my eyes out for not just forgetting but for not pulling to him giving me a hug and say I am sorry I forgot, HB, I love you , i will make up to you.
today. he says there is nothing he can do to make it up, and still has not said i am sorry, i forgot..... etc.....
maybe i need an affair
Sunday, September 23, 2007, 11:33 AM
10:15 - hey, not all us females are picky when it comes to gifts! I'm SO easy to buy for! Heck, I don't even need or want material items - a well crafted love letter is among my favorite gifts :)
11:33 - that SUCKS! Sorry to hear that :(
Sunday, September 23, 2007, 11:37 AM
umm yea 11:33...you do need an affair. sounds like your hunband is already having one.
Sunday, September 23, 2007, 1:43 PM
no he is just a selfish person, I know where he is 24/7 we run a business together. he is just selfish
Sunday, September 23, 2007, 3:30 PM
sorry about the situation
Just a message from my side, I know its late, but hay better late than never...Speaking from a male's point of view, here's just my opinion (opinion's like a belly button..everyone has one...but its just useless. but here goes anyways)
When its his birthday, utterley spoil him and make him feel very special put reminders everywhere around the house well in advance about his birthday and let him see all this..by absolute 'accident' (sarcastically) even make a reminder on your cell phone at a time when you know he will see it going off...ofcourse 'by accident' (sarcastically) by doing this, you will heap burning coals on his conscience so that he utterley will feel embarrassed and will not want to ever forget your birthday again....I know its the opposite to what you think and feel and yes, most people reading this will say: "No ways" but just consider it..

Special picnic lunch. Blanket, wine, sandwiches, alone time. That would be my favorite Birthday present, except my Birthday is in January. However, if my Hubby would even just set it upin the living room I would be so happy. Hey, my Husband forgot my Birthday once and I was so hurt. So, if you happen to see him tell him all I want is a little low cost romantic gesture that says I am still the one and I am still special. I think that is what all wives want (if I can speak for us all).
Wednesday, April 02, 2008, 1:46 PM
I'm all for the day/night away type thing but let me add a little tip to it...TAKE CARE OF THE BABYSITTING TOO! It drove me mad when my husband arranged this great "date" for us, then looked at me and said, "Now you just have to get a sitter." As if he was going without me if I couldn't get one!!!
Wednesday, April 02, 2008, 2:27 PM
All those that keep on harping on jewelry and expensive stuff from men, I bet you they'll find it difficult to spend 20dollars for their husbands..you cannot get a man to spend freely for you if he doesn't want to.. Just as you expect a man to earn your love and affection, you'll have to earn the care and security you desire from your man, because just answering a wife and holding up a selfish attitude would keep his pocket zipped from you!
Ladies, no matter how materialistic you think you are, just use your 2cents to show your husband you can take him as far as you want him to take you, and he'll tell you to sit on his shoulders all the way. Go out there and spend some good money on his birthday or any anniversary, pop his eyes FOR ONCE at how much you can spend to make his day, then drop your hints to what makes you tingle at every opportunity you get hold on. If you have a real man, you're gonna have no room for what's coming to you from him subsequently.

A gift for wife when not at home
Was away from home on my wife's last birthday.By sheer fluke and a post on yahoo answers I found a lady who makes personalized handmade gifts from old hardback books. They are romantic and sentimental ,but not over the top my wife was ecstatic with hers. One great thing is they come with a greeting card ,gift tags and are exquisitely gift wrapped .There are various levels of price and customization available depending how personalized you want to make the gift .She gives you shipping choices depending on when you wish the gift to arrive by I thought this was great as so many sites stick you with inflated shipping charges. I would definitely recommend this gift .OK stupid me forgot to say what gift was called Pages from the Heart Gift Books

Gift for her
I think the best gift would be a pack of fresh roses.

I read an article recently talking about happiness. It said you should buy memories / events, not things. Ie - tickets to a show, yes, but a purse, not so much.

Kisha, along with client services director Lisa Leone and production manager Cathi Christopher
Wholesale Jerseys 2016
, were confined to a 10-by-10-foot room backstage at the Auditorium Theatre, working with two heat-press machines and thousands of names on clear film in folders
Dallas Cowboys Jersey
, organized by team.
"Even though we pretty much knew who was going to go in the first round, we still made all the names
Detroit Lions Jersey
, just to be sure, because there always seems to be some anomaly every year," Kisha said. The trio typically make two jerseys for each player: One to hold on stage and another that's destined to be cut into pieces for trading cards
Houston Texans Jersey
.They bring six jerseys for every team — all with the No. 1
Oakland Raiders Jersey
on the back — to account for a team having an unlikely three first-round picks.
Until 2014, they brought only four jerseys per team but in 2013, the Minnesota Vikings traded up and had three first-round draft picks, which meant six jerseys. When the Vikings made their move
Jacksonville Jaguars Jersey
, Stahls' grabbed an extra jersey from a mannequin in New York City's Radio City Music Hall, where the draft was held. The group gets early word of draft picks from an NFL representative as soon as the pick is submitted by the team
Miami Dolphins Jersey
. Then the two-minute drill begins: Leone grabs the correct name from a box — this year the box contained 1,600 names
Minnesota Vikings Jersey
and team possibilities — and hands it off to be pressed by Kisha and Christopher, in a play they've run repeatedly.
Names are only prepared for first-round prospects who have confirmed they will attend the event
New Orleans Saints Jersey
. Thursday night, 25 athletes attended.Stahls' gets the list of confirmed attendees about two weeks in advance. Each team has its own unique font
, which means 32 versions of every name. The company spends at least six weeks preparing for the event.
Despite the pressure
New York Giants Jersey
, the company considered Thursday just another day on the job. Friday, the Stahls' team was on-site at the NFL Shop in Draft Town as part of a larger team that produces on-demand personalized apparel for fans
New York Jets Jersey
."This year went really great," Kisha said. "You're always nervous though, you know? You've still got butterflies. And (you're) happy when it's done."

Has it really been three years since the
last World Baseball Classic? As we approach the second-ever World Baseball Classic odds, it is never too soon to start examining the power players. Keep in mind that after this WBC
, they will only come once every four years.cheap nfl nike jerseys Here's the four major players in the upcoming 2009 WBC:
United States +150 In baseball, cheap stitched nfl jerseys being an unknown team helps you because you become harder to scout and harder to prepare for
. Take a chance with the Cubans again. They take this tournament very seriously. As far as World Baseball Classics lines go, stitched nfl jerseyslook for the U.S. team to be a real underdog heading into the 2009 tournament
?they might be worth a bet to win it all if the price is right.
The Yankees underachieved in the 2006 World Baseball Classic and you can be assured that they will make some concerted effort to right the ship
. They boasted a fairly talented roster but neglected starting pitching, which was eventually the difference.
This is a pretty penny for a team that won the entire tournament in 2006. They are worth a flier here because keep in mind
, for the most part, cheap nfl jerseysthe Japanese team is an unknown commodity. A lot of people are making assumptions and although the public perceives they are more flukey, cheap nfl jerseys than good, stitched nfl jerseysthe reality is that this is a stellar team. We're starting to get a taste with Ichiro
, Daisuke Matsuzaka and Akinori Otsuka, but they are more than capable of winning it all again. Definitely a team to consider when you bet on the World Baseball Classic.
Speaking of great unknowns, it doesn't get much more mysterious than the Cuban team
. This team lost in the finals to Japan in 2006,cheap stitched nfl jerseys disappointing sportsbook diehards everywhere. The Cubans have a squad full of potential MLB All-Stars.stitched nfl jerseys cheap Last time around, the team was worried that a number of them might defect
,stitched nfl jerseys even though that that never turned out to be the case.
Dominican Republic +175
Go ahead, argue with a team that has Albert Pujols
, Alfonso Soriano, Jose Reyes and David Ortiz.stitched nfl jerseys cheap The sportsbooks certainly won't be debating it
.cheap stitched nfl jerseys Interestingly enough, stitched nfl jerseys cheapthis team doesn't have as much starting pitching as you might think and if the US team brings some good starters, they should be able to beat this team. Bartolo Colon and Francisco Liriano led this starting rotation in 2006. They have some work to do but they can clearly outhit anyone.
