Description:

Carrots, like most vegetables are VERY high in important nutrients that could literally save your life. For example, it has been shown that smokers can greatly reduce their odds of getting emphysema by consuming high doses of foods containing Vitamin A as well as cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and brussels sprouts.

Other studies have shown that people who currently smoke can reduce their odds of getting lung cancer.

We don't usually recommend on PEERtrainer that people smoke, but if you do, (or do other stupid stuff on a regular basis) then know that carrots and other green vegetables have been known to do some excellent "damage control."

Raw carrots are recommended to help with the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Should You Cook Carrots Or Eat Them Raw?

According to Jonny Bowden, PhD in his book the 150 Healthiest Foods On Earth, cooking carrots "makes some of the nutrients more bioavailable."

Cooking helps to break down the cell walls of plants, as does juicing. To get the full impact of all the "good stuff" you will need to really get that these foods.

For those of you following the PEERtrainer Cheat System, carrots are an unlimited food. We often recommend buying carrot dip chips at the supermarket and using them as potato chip replacements. Really helps with the weight loss side of the equation.
