It's a pluot! PLUm + apricOT = PLUOT! Pronounced" "plooooo-ott" I think, not "plooooo-oh"?? Hang on, I'll find a picture for you...You see, they mated a plum and an apricot, and this was the offspring, but frankly it completely takes after the plum. Bit of a disappointment, all things considered. And meanwhile, poor anagramatic brother, Pluto, is a planet no longer...

Pluots combine the best of two fruits: plums and apricots. When fully ripe, like the pluots you get at farmer's markets, they are luscious, lovely, wonderful fruit.

OO thanks p'frau, i've been eating them, but too lazy to research... dammit, 80 calories though... i was assuming 30 or 40... sigh

I'm sorry to hear you've abandoned the project, as durian really tastes wonderful: rich and custardy, with some wine-y overtones (in some varieties). I hope I didn't scare you off by my frank replies to your earlier questions.
