Walnuts are such a healthy food that the US FDA allows them to be marketed in a way that promotes their health benefits.
They are high in nutrients, and especially high in minerals as you can see from the nutrition label to the right.
Walnuts are especially high in Omega-3, in the form of ALA or Alpha-linolenic Acid. Flaxseeds also contain high amounts of ALA. A different form of Omega 3 is found in fish and fish oil- EPA and DHA.
